I think I got hacked...

I just got a notification from Steam (or so I think) that a hacker messed up people's steam accounts and they needed my
password and username to verify me in their databanks. I did so without thought, then shortly thereafter I'm booted off Steam, and it said that my account was being logged on elsewhere. Once I could log back in,
I typed in my password and such, then it said that my password was incorrect.

I don't know if this is ever gonna get fixed, but you can count on the fact that I won't be on for a while...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, the rule is "Steam will NEVER ask for your login and password" because they have database, they could get it anytime without asking.

Yeah, I definitely got conned, and I feel real fucking stupid.

I managed to change my Paypal password just in time, and I submitted a report to Steam...

But one thing's for sure: the Smithens account is gone. I doubt I'll ever see it again.

What games did you have on it? Were these expensive? Or just couple cheap games like Gmod or CSS?

Probably about $100 worth of games.

What do these people do if they can't use my Paypal account?
Do they just start using my Steam account? Play the games that I paid every penny for?

I guess I deserve it, falling for the oldest trick in the book.

I tried that, Steam tells me that they sent it to my email, but I never got it.

It doesn't even matter, they changed my password anyways.

EDIT: Oh, and if I suddenly stop visiting the forums, then I was probably murdered by a crazy hacker,
because they know where I live now.

That hacker changed your Email :/ IMO steam should allow using old email, after changing it, for at least 1 day, so the right account owner has some chance to retrieve his account :/

After going through a lot of sh!t with Customer Support, I managed to get my account back.

Lol that would have been the second time I lost my Steam account (and all its games...).

Did you loose it before? How many games were there? :O
